I had a rarified experience of Sharpe Hill because I was with a local, so local we were able to walk from his house in Pomfret, and skip the wine tasting altogether since he already had a Sharpe Hill favorite. That said, even if you’ve been to this vineyard a million times, I can’t imagine not being awe-struck by the beautiful setting. Once the wine was purchased (Seraph Red), we walked through the garden patio, chose seats under a huge oak tree, and just smiled at how lucky we were to be spending a beautiful fall day with this view.

Day Trip Itinerary: An Autumn Day Trip to Sharpe Hill Vineyard
Each day trip itinerary includes the main event, plus suggestions — with names, addresses and maps — of places to eat, shop, or “notable neighbors” to check out while you’re in the area. There is baked-in flexibility to mix and match, or follow the itinerary to the letter. If you have suggestions, lemme know!
Recommended: Grab a bottle and sit outside under the trees where you can look up at the vineyard. If you’re feeling energetic, you can stroll through the rows of grape vines.

For lunch or dinner…

OTHER DINING OPTIONS
Bring a picnic lunch and snacks to the vineyard: olives, crackers, cheese, quiche, orzo salad or sandwiches all travel well.
