If you feel as helpless as I do right now and want to do something, check out the Newtown Parent Connection website for ways to assist the Newtown community.
The only things I’ve found comfort in the last few days have been hugs, the birth of a good friend’s new daughter, and music. This song is always one of my favorites during the holidays. I remember buying the single at Record Express in West Hartford Center and giving it to my Dad for Christmas 1984. I’m pretty sure my Mom bought it, or at least supervised the purchase, but you get the idea… We played it on my Fisher Price record player (alternating between this and “Disco Duck”) over and over again. It seems particularly poignant right now, at least to me, even though it was written decades ago about another group of vulnerable children, in Africa which is 8,110 miles from Newtown, CT.0
